The Truth About Soda

Soda, liquid candyStudies have shown that soda causes obesity, type 2 diabetes, tooth decay and heart disease.  Adults and children who drink soda tend to be heavier then those that don’t.    Approximately 85% of studies, independently funded, have found a strong correlation between poor health and soda drinkers.  Coincidence?  I think not.

Soda is nothing but “liquid candy”

Would you let your child or yourself eat candy all day? If you’re drinking soda during the day, that’s the equivalent but because we’re drinking, most people don’t realize all the sugar they’re consuming.   I’d much rather eat something nutritious and satisfying instead of wasting empty calories on this sugary drink.

Did you know that if you drink a 300 calorie soda, you would have to walk for three miles?  It’s not likely that you would do this to get rid of those calories.  One of the first steps to losing weight is to stop drinking these empty calories.

If only these companies would tell us the truth about what they’re peddling, it would sound like this video.

Instead they hire athletes and celebrities to market this liquid poison, because we relate these people to health. They’re also role models for kids so although they’re NOT suppose to be marketing to children, they are still seeing these commercials when watching sports, TV shows and on line.

You may say, but I haven’t had a coke in years.  But what about these other drinks you may buy that you think are healthy like ice tea, Cranberry juice cocktail, Smoothies (try one of these instead), Frappuccino and VitaminWater.   Next time you’re out and want to order something healthy, try a sugar free ice tea and add your own sweetener such as stevia or honey or just water, it’s good for you.

I’ll leave you with this one last video I came across.  You might remember the tune but most of all I hope you remember the message…..
